Community Events

By planning your own community event, you can help bring a ray of hope for children diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions. A fulfilled wish can replenish a child’s faith in the basic wholeness and goodness of the world. It lifts them up and carries them away to a place where dreams still do come true. It brings the magic back and with it we hope is as valuable a treatment as any medicine on Earth!

Below are 3 creative fundraising ideas that may interest you:

Mustaches for Kids
Glatting Jackson Kercher Anglin organized an in-office fundraiser. More than 40 men participated in the fundraiser by taking pledges from friends, family, co-workers, and event clients as they grew out their mustaches for 4 weeks. Each participant was expected to raise at least $100. At the end of the month they had a competition and gave awards to the “sweetest ’stache” and “weakest ’stache.” Their goal was to raise $2000…at the end of the 4 weeks they had raised more than $11,000.

Raffles, Jeans Days, Bake Sales
National Retail Properties organized an in-office fundraiser that ran for 6 weeks. They solicited several items to raffle off (ie. restaurant gift cards, hotel stays, etc.), sold a “Jeans Day” coupon for $5 each week or $25 for the entire 6 weeks and brought in baked goods to sell within the office. Their goal was to raise $3000…at the end of the 6 weeks they had raised $6000.

Golf Tournament
Several companies such as State Farm, Fed Ex, Advanced Communication Solutions, Keller Williams, Chi Omega and Team Diamond have organized golf tournaments to benefit our Foundation. These fundraisers have raised $5000-$40,000 each.

The sky is the limit when planning your own event. We have also seen companies, clubs and individuals plan: car shows, bachelor/bachelorette auctions, chili cook-offs, fashion shows and ladies’ luncheons, grand openings, poker runs and selling Make-A-Wish stars at their stores.
